Sm Bus Controller Driver Windows 81 Lenovo

  1. Sm Bus Controller Driver For Compaq
  1. May 18, 2015  Win 8.1 missing SM Bus Controller driver Yesterday I upgraded a recently built Intel 4670 (ASUS Z87-A motherboard) system from Win 8 to Win 8.1. Troubleshooting says 'USB Port Hub (xHC1) has a driver problem' and 'SM Bus Controller doesn't have a driver'. However, Windows 8.1 is unable to automatically fix the problem.
  2. Dec 1, 2012 - Important Notice: As of Windows 8.1, we don't recommend replacing. This can be fixed by forcing Windows to use the Intel USB 3.0 host controller drivers instead of. EXtensible Host Controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers in. I've got a Lenovo G580 I5 3210 and bought a Crucial 128G SSD.
  3. The Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility installs Windows* INF files to the target system. These files outline to the operating system how to configure the Intel(R) chipset components in order to ensure that the following features function properly: - Core PCI and ISAPNP Services- PCIe Support - IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support- SATA Storage Support - USB Support.

I have a Lenovo ideapad laptop running Windows 8. It has 1 USB 3.0 port on the left and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the right. Both of the 2.0 ports just quit working. The 3.0 port still works. At least for now.
I saw in another post the suggestion to uninstall all USB drivers and restart the computer. I did that. Nothing.
I don't know if this next bit is relevant at all, but I'm giving it to you in case it is.
My mouse was plugged into a 2.0 port. After being on for a while, I would get an error message saying that the device wasn't recognized. Shortly after that, my mouse would stop working until I put the computer into sleep mode and woke it back up. (Not sure of the technical term, so please work with me.) I got annoyed by that and and moved my mouse to the 3.0 port on the other side. (Thankfully it has a long cord.) I'm starting to get the same error with the 3.0 port, but it hasn't made my mouse quit working yet.
For right at the moment, this isn't urgent. It will be a problem when I have to plug in my external hard drive to back up files and/or have to plug in my external CD/DVD drive to get something off of a CD-Rom. Mostly because I HATE the touch pad. (The touch pad and I don't work well together.)
I saw somebody asking people to download Specky (sp?) and post the results, so I did that already for you. They're below. I even enclosed a snip of the entire Specky screen since I don't know if the link will do anything.
How do I fix this? Do I just need to get a new laptop with my tax return? I can't afford to bring my computer in to be looked at by professional computer repair people, at least not until I get my tax return.

What am I seeing?
Device Manager displays an exclamation point for the SMBus controller or lists it under Other Devices.

How to fix it
Download and run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility so Windows* properly recognizes the SMBus controller.

NoteSMBus is the System Management Bus used in personal computers and servers for low-speed, system management communications. A SMBus controller is integrated into most Intel® chipsets.
