Pros: This laptop has everything a student will need for all their classes. So far I haven't found anything it won't do.

The case feels sturdy
The specs say it is a 1TB HDD but it runs and sounds more like an SSD to be quite honest
Cons: opening the case in order to service or upgrade (i.e. adding RAM) is a pain. A good amount of the screws are hidden and even once they're all removed, you have to use a skinny/flat but strong object to pry the case open.
DDR4 RAM so you're likely gonna need to buy new ram to upgrade it to 16 GB (most laptops use DDR3 so it's unlikely you'll be able to just use your old laptop's upgraded ram)
Pros: VERY fast. beautiful display, comes with bluetooth and hdmi
the cd/dvd drive is some sort of sata.
Cons: only 3 usb ports, 1 usb3.

Other Thoughts: i bought this from best buy for $13 more than Newegg(my Bad) i still had to get it shipped so i really should have gone with the egg. however! first thing i did was change the 1T HDD to a 525 SSD then installed win7 on it. i found out shortly after the very difficult time i had trying to install by usb (not possible) i ended up creating a 10GB partition on my ssd with the win7 install files then the install happened FAST like less than 5 minutes. except there were around 16 missing drivers... no biggie right? this normally happens with a non-oem copy of any os. but after quite a few hours of trying and trying and trying to install video drivers i keep getting a message saying 'your system does not meet he minimum requirements' now im stuck with generic vga drivers instead of the Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 drivers, or i have to deal with windows 10, and the pain of putting that on the SSD.
